…Where women & ideas meet!
For more than a century, The Indianapolis Propylaeum has been a place that connects women leaders, celebrates arts & culture, and supports historic preservation. Today, that legacy continues through:
Convening
A welcoming place for meaningful conversation and the exchange of ideas
Convening women leaders is central to the mission of The Indianapolis Propylaeum, a historic gathering place where women come together for conversation, connection, and civic engagement in Indianapolis. Our leadership programming works to inspire the next generation of women leaders while providing direct access to established voices in our community.
Through our membership community, the Marilyn K. Glick Women’s Enrichment Series, and our annual celebration honoring the spirit of May Wright Sewall, the Propylaeum creates meaningful opportunities for women to connect, exchange ideas, and strengthen leadership networks across Indianapolis.
Cultivation
A community where members champion the arts, literature, leadership, and historic preservation
The Indianapolis Propylaeum cultivates a vibrant community where creativity, learning, and leadership thrive. Through programs, partnerships, and cultural events, we celebrate arts and culture in Indianapolis while creating opportunities for members and guests to engage with literature, ideas, and civic dialogue.
By bringing together artists, authors, community leaders, and lifelong learners, the Propylaeum helps cultivate a culture of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration that enriches Indianapolis’ cultural landscape.
Preservation
Stewardship of one of Indianapolis’ historic landmarks for future generations enriched with ongoing preservation education
The Indianapolis Propylaeum values the historic preservation of original architecture in Indiana and upholds this value by maintaining the historic integrity of our 1890s mansion. We believe that preservation creates a strong sense of place and adds to the architectural and visual richness of the community by displaying the roots of its character and diversity. Designed to spotlight historic homes & neighborhoods, the work of architects, researchers, and preservation advocates, our virtual Historic Preservation Series has reached more than 500 attendees over the past five years and continues to engage audiences across Indiana and beyond.
